My encoder is giving me slow reps.
Your encoder is probably in “DOWN” mode. Check this article: how to change from DOWN to UP in the encoder.
The encoder isn't reading repetitions.
If you do repetitions in an exercise and can't see anything on the screen, or if some repetitions are displayed but others are not, you probably have the ROM filter configured. Try decreasing the ROM filter for that exercise for this particular athlete and try again.
The app is not giving me the estimated 1RM.
Two things can happen here:
1. You don't have a load-velocity profile for that athlete or exercise. In this case, you have to create a load-velocity profile for that athlete and exercise.
2. You have configured the RM filter to a lower velocity than at which you are lifting (e.g., if you set it to discard 1RM estimates for lifts faster than 0.60m/s and you are lifting at 0.70m/s), then it will not generate an estimate. In this case, modify the filter to set a higher velocity.
However, we recommend not estimating 1RM with loads very different from those used to create your load-velocity profile. For instance, if your profile was created with loads between 70% RM and 90% RM, try to estimate your daily 1RM with loads in that same range. Estimating it with loads like 50% RM, for example, will result in very inaccurate estimates.
My 1RM is lower than the load I am currently lifting.
There are times when the app estimates your 1RM as, for example, 200 lbs, but you can lift that weight for 2 reps, or it might even estimate less than what you are lifting.
You need to consider several factors to achieve an accurate estimation of the 1RM:
-
You must be lifting the load as fast as possible.
-
For the 1RM estimation, the app considers the velocity of the repetition, the weight used, and the equation generated from your load-velocity profile for that exercise.
The reason for inaccurate estimations is that the equation being used to calculate your 1RM, and therefore the load-velocity profile, is not perfectly adapted to your performance. This means the velocity you have achieved is lower than the 1RM velocity used in the load-velocity profile.
For example, the generic bench press profile indicates that the velocity of the 1RM is 0.18 m/s, meaning your 1RM should be the weight you lift at 0.18 m/s. If you lift a heavy weight at 0.15 m/s, which is slower than the 1RM velocity your profile was based on, the app will interpret that you are lifting above your 100%, resulting in an incorrect 1RM estimation.
To correct this, either create an entire load-velocity profile or simply modify the current 1RM velocity to match your lowest achievable velocity if you know it.
How to change the app language?
The app uses the default language set on your mobile device or tablet. Therefore, if you want to change the language of the app, you need to change the language settings on your device.
Minimum version for the apps
